flow.syncster.dev
FlowStudio
A browser workspace for open-channel hydraulics and related calculations: uniform flow, gradually varied profiles, weirs, gates, classic seepage checks, and a simplified Tyrolean intake model—organized in projects and folders, with optional cloud sync when you sign in with Google.
At a glance
- SI units throughout the worksheets.
- Charts and schematics where they help—cross-sections, rating curves, GVF depth profiles, Khosla uplift diagrams, Tyrolean rack sketches, and more.
- Inputs and outputs stored per worksheet; signed-in users sync projects, folders, and sheets with the hosted API.
- Built as an educational and design-aid tool: verify results against your codes, site data, and project requirements before relying on them for construction or compliance.
Open-channel uniform flow
Manning-based uniform flow with section previews and discharge–depth rating curves where applicable:
- Rectangular — bottom width and depth (or discharge).
- Trapezoidal — bottom width
b, side slopez(H:V). - Circular — pipe flowing partially full.
- Natural / irregular — surveyed cross-section as a series of points; uniform flow solved from the composite geometry.
Gradually varied flow (GVF)
Compute water-surface profiles in prismatic channels (rectangular, trapezoidal, or circular) with standard-step or Runge–Kutta style integration (as implemented in the app), friction via Manning, and a depth-profile chart along the reach.
Weirs and gates
- Rectangular sharp-crested weir — discharge–head relationship with user discharge coefficient; rating curve and section sketch.
- Cipolletti weir — trapezoidal crest, same style of outputs.
- Sluice gate in a rectangular channel — gate opening, upstream/downstream depths, and related hydraulics with profile handling where the worksheet supports it.
Seepage and intakes
- Khosla / Lane weighted creep — piecewise head distribution under structures, composite sections, interference corrections, and an uplift / residual head style plot from computed pressures.
- Tyrolean (bottom-rack) intake — simplified diverted discharge from rack geometry, porosity, and approach depth; optional collecting channel sizing with fixed bottom width and depths from velocity criteria.
Workspace and account
- Projects own your worksheets; folders nest under projects.
- Sign-in uses Firebase (e.g. Google); the app exchanges Firebase ID tokens for short-lived API access tokens—no FlowStudio-hosted passwords.
- In-app Feedback for bugs and suggestions (signed-in).
- Terms and privacy for the app itself: Terms · Privacy.
Capabilities evolve with releases; the live app is the source of truth for which worksheet types are available. This page was written to match the product as of April 2026.
